Understanding USPS Tracking Updates and Delivery DelaysUpdated a day ago
Once an order ships, USPS tracking will show status updates as the package moves through their network. While most orders arrive without issue, delays or limited tracking movement can happen — especially during periods of high volume or regional slowdowns.
Common USPS Tracking Statuses
Status | What It Means |
---|---|
In Transit | The package is moving between USPS facilities |
Arrived at USPS Facility | It reached a sorting or distribution center |
Out for Delivery | USPS is delivering the package that day |
Delivered | The package was delivered to the address on file |
Returned to Sender | USPS was unable to deliver and is sending the package back |
No Update / Stuck at Facility | The item may still be in transit but hasn’t been scanned recently |
Why a Package May Not Update
Delayed scanning: USPS doesn’t always scan at every stop
Regional delays: Weather, staffing issues, or volume can slow progress
Tracking lag: The item may be moving, but the tracking hasn't updated yet
Delivery issues: Incorrect address, inaccessible location, or mailbox restrictions
When Can Homegrown Step In?
Per store policy, we can assist with a replacement or resolution if:
The package has shown no movement for 8 full business days, or
The tracking shows the package was returned to sender
If your order meets either condition, please contact our support team so we can review and take the next steps.
Still Within the Delivery Window?
Most USPS delays resolve on their own within a few business days. If your package has only been inactive for a short time, we recommend allowing a bit more time for the tracking to update.
