This method is Homegrown's recommended approach for germinating cannabis seeds. It's simple, effective, and requires only household items.
- Two plates
- Paper towels
- Tweezers
- Bottled or purified water
- Homegrown Cannabis Co. seeds
- Moisten two paper towels
- Wring out excess water
- Place one moist paper towel on a plate
- Set the other aside for later
- Using tweezers, place seeds on the paper towel
- Leave about 1 inch (2.5 cm) between each seed
- Lay the second moist paper towel over the seeds
- Be careful not to disturb seed placement
- Add more water if necessary
- Lift a corner of the paper towel to check for excess water
- Drain any freestanding liquid
- Ensure towels remain consistently moist
- Use the second plate as a lid to cover the seeds
- Place in a warm, dry spot (e.g., cabinet, drawer, or refrigerator top)
- Keep constant temperature between 70–77°F (21–25°C)
- Check seeds regularly
- Expect taproots to emerge within 24 to 120 hours
- Once taproots appear, seeds are ready for planting
