It's been hot and my seedlings aren't looking good — what should I do?Updated 14 minutes ago

High temperatures — especially in the upper 80s to 90s°F (30–35°C) — can put serious stress on young cannabis plants. Seedlings are especially vulnerable to heat, and symptoms like wilting, curling, or pale leaves are common signs of heat stress.

Here’s what you can do to help your little ones recover:

☂️ Provide Shade

If you're growing outdoors, give your seedlings partial shade during peak sun hours (usually between 11am and 4pm). Use shade cloth, garden fabric, or even a light bedsheet to reduce direct exposure.

💧 Hydrate Carefully

  • Keep the soil consistently moist but not soaked.

  • Water early in the morning or after sunset to reduce evaporation and avoid root shock.

  • Avoid cold water — use room temperature water to prevent additional stress.

🍃 Increase Airflow (Indoors)

If you’re growing indoors, increase airflow using oscillating fans and ensure your exhaust system is moving hot air out. You can also dim your grow lights slightly or raise them higher until temps stabilize.

🌡️ Cool the Environment

  • Outdoors: Mulch around the base of the plant to keep roots cooler.

  • Indoors: Open up your tent during the day, or use an AC/dehumidifier to manage both heat and humidity.

🌱 Avoid Transplanting or Feeding

When plants are under stress, it’s best to hold off on transplanting or giving nutrients until they’ve bounced back. Let them recover in peace.

Once temps drop and conditions improve, your plants should begin to perk up. If you’re unsure whether they’ll make it, snap a photo and reach out — our team is happy to help evaluate your setup. 🌿
